The Diocesan Museum offers guided tours in the Exhibition Gallery and in the Seminary Rooms where temporary and thematic exhibitions are proposed, alternately displaying the historical-artistic heritage of the various areas of the archdiocese and those of other areas of the island and in the San Pio X Room with the permanent exhibition that houses the artefacts of the Treasury of the Cathedral of Oristano and retraces its history through important marble and bronze fragments, sacred vestments, liturgical furnishings, illuminated books, wooden statuary, reliquaries and the Dossal from the end of the 13th century. The Seminary Rooms instead host the archaeological and numismatic collection of the Archbishop Seminary.
Guided tours for schools
The Museo Diocesano Arborense offers its service to all schools, of all levels, together with the Diocesan Historical Archive and the Library of the Archiepiscopal Seminary. The visit includes the Museum, the Diocesan Historical Archive, which preserves ancient documents, and the Library of the Archiepiscopal Seminary of the Immaculate, where a precious collection of ancient books is preserved, among which the incunabula and the Cinquecentine stand out.
Also by reservation, the Museum offers various workshops for primary schools.
Summer guided tours
On the occasion of the “white nights” and in conjunction with the “Shopping under the stars” event, the Museo Diocesano Arborense organizes guided tours both in the Cathedral area (Museum, Cathedral, Bell Tower) and to the other churches in the historic center: San Francesco, church of the Madonna del Carmine.
